Design for the towel surface
A digital design displayed on a smooth screen will look different on loops or waffle texture. Very fine detail needs a smoother print face. For sublimation, include bleed and keep important text away from cut and stitched edges.
Standard sublimation relies on a white or light polyester base because the dye is not an opaque layer. Dark areas can be printed, but unprinted white normally comes from the base fabric itself.
Manage colour
Supply brand references, but treat the textile sample as the approval point. Monitors, transfer paper, ink, heat, fabric and finishing can all influence the result. Pantone references provide direction; they do not remove the need to sample.
When several sponsor logos are included, test the smallest reversed text and pale colours against the background. A layout that works on a poster may need more spacing on fabric.
Inspect before bulk production
- Final towel size and print orientation.
- Artwork scale, bleed and safe area.
- Colour under normal daylight.
- Front-to-back alignment if both faces are printed.
- Stitching through printed edges.
- Feel, absorbency and washing expectations of the base towel.
